You can use Metlund's recirculation pumps as a retrofit in lieu of a loop.
A typical electric buffer tank used in indirect recirc loops draw about 12 amps but is subject to rapid degradation of the heating element in hard water conditions. an indirect recirculation has a check valve on the cold water side followed by a properly sized domestic hot water thermal expansion tank where the return water is then sent back on the hot effluent side of the heater not through the cold water side. Be sure to follow line size calculations and pump sizing too. this is one of the most misunderstood areas by plumbers. |
